Tried and Tested (revision) strategies for GCSE.
On Wednesday 19th March 2025, teachers from across Birmingham, Stoke and Staffordshire gathered online to benefit from each other’s collective wisdom.
Tracy Williams (Trent and Tame Language Hub), Claire Bowker (Bishop Walsh), Chris Parry (Painsley Catholic College), Libby Franklin (Sutton Coldfield Grammar School for Girls) and Nathalie Charlery (Erdington Academy) shared their tried and tested KS4 strategies. Those attending the virtual teach-meet were urged to consider how each of the strategies might be used in the short term as a revision tool with year 11, or embedded into a scheme of work in Year 9 or Year 10 to avoid the need for last minute revision strategies!
Feedback from the event was incredibly positive.
“It was such a great session – my colleague and I are now playing on the Maverly AI platform – it’s great fun.”
“We really enjoyed it and as always received some amazing resources we’re going to apply ASAP!”
“Particularly the star vocabulary and bare necessities verbs will be able to be inputted straight away”
“Thank-you for sharing different ideas and giving us reassurance that we’re on the right track in our own dept.”
“Thanks for the simplified revision strategies for verbs, it’s what I’ve been practising with students, but embedding into quizzes and being more direct about this is needed for me to focus on writing and speaking.”
