A busy week for the Trent and Tame Language Hub
Creating a strong and sustainable network of primary and secondary Language teachers across Birmingham, Stoke and Staffordshire is one of TTLH’s core objectives.
Supporting these teachers to develop their knowledge and understanding of what effective language teaching and learning looks like is another!
This week we’ve had the joy of delivering our first CPD sessions of the 24-25 academic year to both primary and secondary colleagues.
Motivation and Oracy
On Tuesday 15th October, teachers from 25 secondary schools across the region joined us to explore the link between motivation and oracy. In this session we explored the perennial question “how can we support our learners to become more confident and spontaneous users of the Target Language?”
Our key takeaways are summarised below:
On Tuesday 26th November, TTLH will be hosting a virtual teach-meet providing a forum for secondary colleagues to share best practice and progress to date following this CPD session. This session is open to everyone. Register here.
Setting the Scene for Language Learning
On Thursday 17th October, it was the turn of our primary colleagues. TTLH is delighted to be working with Birmingham Education Partnership (BEP) during the 24-25 academic to deliver their primary specialist-led network sessions.
In this session, Language subject leads from across Birmingham met to explore what it means to be a linguist and how we can support young people in our schools to understand the value language learning can bring to their lives.
Our key takeaways are summarised below:
