Arabic Language Reading Competition 2025

Tuesday 14th January, 2025

The Arabic Teachers’ Council in London and Southern England is initiating the ‘Arabic Language Reading Competition 2025’. The Arabic Teachers’ Council is supported in this project by the HHCL Advisory Group and the ALL Arabic Zone.

This competition is an excellent opportunity to encourage students to read in Arabic and inspire a love of reading in general. This initiative features carefully selected stories on diverse and captivating themes. By taking part, participants build their confidence in reading, improve their fluency and comprehension, expand their vocabulary, and compete for a special prize.

The competition, with its judging phase on Zoom, benefits participating schools by encouraging extra-curricular language activity, and creating a buzz of excitement in the community, especially among students learning Arabic – either as a foreign language or as a home, heritage or community language.

Who can participate?

• Primary and secondary school students.

• Each mainstream school can enter a maximum of 3 students for both categories (heritage/non-native).

• Schools may wish to start an internal school competition to decide the three students who will represent the school.

Prizes There will be four prizes for each of the categories below, in the form of £100 voucher.
