Glowing feedback for TTLH’s Motivation and Oracy Virtual Teach Meet

Monday 2nd December, 2024

A pie chart showing which strategies have been incorporated into MFL lessons, following the last face to face CPD session.

On Tuesday 26th November, 25 MFL teachers joined TTLH’s virtual teach-meet exploring Motivation and Oracy. Building on the concepts shared at a face-to-face session in October, the teach-meet provided an opportunity to find out how teachers have adapted their practice to get their students saying more in the Target Language in their lessons.

Those joining the call were able to hear from teachers currently working at Bishop Walsh, Erdington Academy, Cardinal Griffin and Blessed William Howard, picking up ideas and tangible strategies to build into their own lessons.

In response to the question “How might this session impact on your classroom practice?”, the TTLH team were delighted to receive many positive comments:

“Instant take-aways to implement straightaway in the classroom. I’m going to adapt my own classroom practice to incorporate these ideas.”

“This session has really inspired me to get students talking in the classroom. Just today I was doing some speaking practice with year 11 Spanish and while I was listening to the students, I kept thinking about how robotic and unnatural they sound with their scripted responses. We need to make more of an effort to promote naturally occurring language.”

Our next face-to face CPD session is taking place on Wednesday 12th February. This session is open to both primary and secondary teachers and will focus on motivation and transition. To find out more and reserve a place, please register here.
